We have visited Bar Lourinha last night as a stop buy before we go to movies .....ended up not wanting to go to movies at all!!!! Great South European vibe Spanish Portuguese, Mediterranean got everything,. Background music made it sooooo pleasant and relaxed that we really had one of the best nights out!!! ahh let me tell you about Food!!! Next level So simple but executed soo well that we were speechless, fresh produce, right amount of spice, prefect mix of ingredients...even Skirt steak was done quite well and in an unorthodox way if I may say... tried few different wines and 2022 Carlos Raposo Impecavel Touriga DAO Portugal was our pick of the night Bold enough, ripe enough, smooth enough....perfect Anyway, we will be visiting more often for sure and we would recommend highly this place. You will enjoy it!! Jana & Boris

This gem is not to be missed. We’ve taken many friends and family here, and everyone has been impressed—without exception. The food is absolutely delicious Iberian fare, with depth of flavour and super fresh ingredients—not the run-of-the-mill dishes you find elsewhere. The wine list is varied, featuring both European and Australian selections at reasonable prices. And if you want to brush up on your Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian, the staff will happily oblige. Simply gorgeous and highly recommended!

We opted for the Sunday Paella special which at $30/35 pp was very reasonably priced. We also ordered some additional starters (not included in the price) which were tasty. Service was good. My only issue with this place was that there is not one “diet” drink available on the drinks menu. So I ended up drinking mineral water for the entire meal. For 2025, this is not good and is the first restaurant globally (even in Espana) that I have not been able to order a “diet” based drink. First world problem huh.

Dinner in Melbourne @bar_lourinha - it’s a small spot, crowded and intimate, kitsch set up and an array of mismatched trinkets in the wall which made for the atmosphere. Food is tapas based and designed to share. We had some croquettes, kingfish crudo, duck and the pork shoulder. Accompanied by a couple of wines

I have wanted to go to Bar Lourinhã for ages, and now I regret not going sooner! The vibe is effortlessly cool yet welcoming, you feel instantly at home the moment you walk in. The food? Insanely good. The octopus was tender and full of flavour, and the duck was rich and perfectly cooked, absolute standouts. The service was warm and genuine, making the whole experience feel special. Melbourne, you have done it again, this spot is pure magic.

Everything from the snacks to the starters was absolutely delicious — especially the potato gnocchi, which was so good I’d go back just for that. We really enjoyed the experience… until the steak arrived. Unfortunately, the rump steak was incredibly tough — I couldn’t even chew through a bite, and it ended up tiring my jaw. My partner finished it because we didn’t want to waste food, but it was a disappointing end to an otherwise lovely meal. Hence the four stars.

This is a great place for a solo female traveller. The vibe of this little bar/restaurant is lively. The music is not too loud. I was seated at the bar and felt welcomed. It’s a vibrant yet cozy vibe. I had the Virgo dry martini which was made well by the bartender. It was the perfect accompaniment to the tapas I ordered: the natural oysters and something off their specials board: the spiced mussel montadito. The umami on their special tapas is right up there. The mussels are chopped and mixed up with the spice level just-so. The mixture sits on their house-made toasted focaccia soldier. Each bite was a delight and paired well with my martini. The only downside was that it was not cheap. Almost $67 for a drink and 2 tapas when tapas is free in Spain.
